Cavalry FC Announces New Covid-19 Fan Protocols Commencing September 22

Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League announced today a decision to enforce enhanced Covid-19 health and safety measures for the remainder of the season. The measures are in line with other professional teams, institutions, venues and events that have recently made similar announcements to help protect fans and stem the very real threats presented by Covid-19, its variants, and the spread.

Cavalry FC has made the decision to implement certain policies and measures in an effort to provide a level of comfort and safety for our passionate fan base attending the remainder of Cavalry FC home games through November. The club will continue to operate under these measures and in strict adherence to Alberta Health guidelines and recommendations.

The measures will take effect starting on Wednesday, September 22, when the gates open at 6 p.m. to fans attending the Canadian Championship match against Pacific FC.

Cavalry FC will now require fans attending matches to verify full vaccination status (fans 18+), as well as agree to a temperature check prior to entering the venue. Masks will be strongly encouraged but will not be mandatory while seated outside. Masks will be required in indoor locations.

The club recognizes that some individuals–for personal or medical reasons–may not be fully vaccinated. These fans will be allowed admission with proof of a valid negative result of a recognized Covid-19 test (antigen or PCR) taken within 48 hours of kickoff.

“We felt we must do our part and join fellow organizations that have already moved to have this process in place,” said Ian Allison, President of Cavalry FC. “We have been discussing it for quite a while, and tracking the data during our break in the schedule from home games. In the end, we want to be able to welcome fans back to ATCO Field and for everyone to feel safe and compliant within the recommendations of our provincial health authorities. We also want to play a responsible role in helping to keep any more people from getting sick with this devastating virus.”

All Cavalry FC players, staff, officials, contractors, stadium staff, and event staff are required to follow the same requirements and guidelines.

These measures will take effect starting on the September 22 match versus Pacific FC.
