Martin Nash on OneSoccer Hangout: Cavs assistant aspires to be a head coach one day
Canadian Premier League

Tuesday’s OneSoccer Player & Pundit Hangout session featured Cavalry FC assistant coach and former Canadian international Martin Nash.

Nash played with a number of pro clubs in Canada during his career, including the Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps before they joined MLS.

He also turned out for Canada’s national team, scoring two goals in 38 appearances from 1997 to 2010, and he was part of the Canadian side that won the 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup.

In talking to OneSoccer hosts Adam Jenkins, Asa Rehman, and Oliver Platt, Nash discussed his role with Cavalry and working under head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. after the two were together at Calgary Foothills F.C.

“He’s such a student of the game. He’s always looking for ways to improve, watching other teams, tactics, other coaches,” Nash said of Wheeldon Jr.

Nash talked about his childhood with his brother, NBA legend Steve Nash.

“We’d battle each other non-stop, and we’d be good at any sport, so it was constant,” Nash said.

Other topics Nash discussed on OneSoccer’sPlayer & Pundit Hangout included his time with the Canadian national team, whether he has ambitions to one day be a head coach in the CPL, and much more.
