Cavalry FC winger Nico Pasquotti went on social media Friday afternoon to give people an update on his injury status, revealing that he is scheduled to have surgery later this month on a torn ACL and partial meniscus.

Pasquotti said his post-operative prognosis is for a six to nine month recovery “if everything goes as planned.”

“There is no doubt this sucks and it is never news that any athlete wants to hear but it’s part of the game. This isn’t going to slow me down and the journey doesn’t end here,” Pasquotti posted on his Twitter account.

“It’s definitely going to be hard long road back, but I believe this is going to make me stronger.”

A 24-year-old native of Lethbridge, Alta., Pasquotti suffered the knee injury in the first half of a match vs. Pacific FC on Sept. 9 during the second round of The Island Games in Charlottetown. He ended up sitting out Cavalry’s last two matches of the tournament, as the Calgary-based club failed to qualify for the 2020 CPL Final.

Pasquotti logged 539 minutes of playing time in eight appearances at The Island Games.

In 2019, Pasquotti scored five goals and tallied three assists in 25 CPL appearances for Cavalry.
