By the numbers: Defending CPL champs Cavalry FC host Vancouver FC in home opener on TSN
Canadian Premier League

On Friday, the Canadian Premier League’s 2024 champions return to ATCO Field, where they are sure to get a heroes’ welcome in their 2025 home opener. A young Vancouver FC side, however, will be keen to spoil the party as they look for their first win of the season, and first-ever victory over Cavalry FC.

The marquee match will be broadcast on TSN 3, as well as OneSoccer. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. ET.

Here are nine key statistics to note ahead of Friday’s clash:

41   — Regular season victories for Cavalry FC at ATCO Field, the most home wins in Canadian Premier League history.

0 — Vancouver FC have never defeated Cavalry FC in nine previous meetings (six losses, three draws). They remain the only club in the CPL who the Eagles did not defeat in their first two seasons in the league.

2 — Cavalry FC have lost just twice in 28 matches at home over the past two seasons in regular season play.

58 — Vancouver FC lead the CPL in passes played into the opposition box this season.

0 — Cavalry FC have never won a match in the month of April in club history, a stat which continued to haunt them during their season-opening 1-0 loss to Forge FC on April 5.

608 — U-21 Canadian minutes accumulated by Vancouver FC, who lead the league in this category. They’ve already given professional debuts this season to 17-year olds Kevin Podgorni, Emrick Fotsing, 16-year-old Dominic Joseph, and 19-year-old Henri Godbout.

40 — Goals scored by Vancouver FC’s Terran Campbell, the most in CPL history. He opened his account for Vancouver FC in a 4-1 loss to Atlético Ottawa this past week. That puts him two ahead of Vancouver FC teammate Alejandro Díaz.

3-2-0 — Cavalry FC have never lost their home opener (first match at ATCO Field) in club history with three wins, and two draws.

3 — Three of Cavalry FC’s five goals against Vancouver FC last season in all competitions were scored by 2024 CPL Golden Boot winner Tobias Warschewski.
