Cavalry FC Announces Cavalry FC U21

Calgary, AB (May 5, 2023) – Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League announce Cavalry FC U21, who will be competing in the League1 Alberta Exhibition Series starting this May.

League1 Alberta is the province of Alberta’s pro-am, standards-based, senior league. Founded in 2023 and in this inaugural exhibition season, the league will be launching with five-teams on both the men’s and women’s side.

The league will serve between the high-performance youth level, elite amateur, and professional levels of the game within Alberta. League1 Alberta’s goal will be to showcase and develop Canada’s future soccer stars, coaches, and match officials by providing an important platform for them to showcase themselves. Cavalry FC U21 will act as a pipeline for young players looking to reach the professional level of soccer in Canada. Providing opportunities to learn and develop in an environment provided by Cavalry FC with highly credited coaching staff, the club identifies local Alberta talent, shining a light on young players across the province. Cavalry FC has seen several players emerge from their youth system, including the talents of Victor Loturi, Aribim Pepple, and Gareth Smith-Doyle to name a few.

Both the Cavalry FC U21 coaching staff and player roster will soon be announced. All Cavalry FC U21 home matches will take place between Hellard Field at Shouldice Athletic Park, and the Dino Field located at the University of Calgary.

“We are delighted that our young aspiring players will have the opportunity to play games within the new League1 Alberta structure,” says Cavalry FC Assistant Coach, Leon Hapgood. “We would like to commend the great work that has been done by Alberta Soccer in getting League1 Alberta off the ground. This league will allow our young aspiring players the chance to gain meaningful game experience in their pursuit towards playing professional soccer within our first team environment.”

 

The Cavalry FC U21 season will kick off on May 12th, as they travel to face BTB Soccer Club. Their first home match will take place on May 20th on Hellard Field at Shouldice Athletic Park, with tickets available now HERE
