Cavalry FC Announces U SPORTS Contracts for Three Players

Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) today announced that the club has signed three players to U SPORTS contracts for the 2024 season. Niko Myroniuk, Max Piepgrass, and Caden Rogozinski have been selected and offered contracts by the club. All three players are local to Calgary and came through the Calgary Minor Soccer system.

Myroniuk, 18, signed with Cavalry FC on a development contract for the 2023 season and impressed in the club’s preseason. The midfielder made his senior debut against Pacific FC in the TELUS Canadian Championship before being ruled out due to injury. He then began his academic career with Mount Royal University in the fall of 2023 where he has made 15 appearances, contributing five goal involvements. Internationally, Myroniuk has been called up for the Canadian National Futsal Team.

“Niko is a highly technical player that has good dribbling and ball protection abilities. He also has a great engine allowing him to be an all-action player that fits in well with our systems.”

Piepgrass, 20, signed with Cavalry FC on a development contract back in 2021, and made his debut in the TELUS Canadian Championship against FC Edmonton in a 2-0 win over the northern Alberta side. The midfielder made three appearances for the club before commencing his academic career in the Atlantic at Cape Breton University. As part of the Capers, Piepgrass lifted the national title in 2023.

“Max has been around our club for several years now and is maturing very well. He had a terrific season with Cape Breton University as they claimed the U SPORTS Championship. He’s a very intelligent player that adapts well to several positions.”

Rogozinski, 21, was previously drafted by Cavalry in the 2022 U SPORTS Draft before being drafted a second time in 2024. Rogozinski is a graduate of the Calgary Foothills academy and previously played for League1 Ontario side Electric City FC and League1 BC’s Victoria Highlanders. Rogozinski is described as a dominant defender with great speed and physicality who reads situations very well, whilst being comfortable in possession during the build up. The defender is the current captain at Mount Royal University.

“Caden has been a player that has joined several of our pre-season training camps, each time getting stronger and closer to the pro level. He is very athletic and covers ground well along with being strong in his defensive duals and comfortable with the ball at his feet.”
