Cavalry FC Begins Pre-Season Training

Calgary, AB (April 13, 2021) – Cavalry FC announces that the team has officially begun pre-season training.

Pre-season training for the upcoming 2021 Canadian Premier League season commenced once full approval was given by local government and health authorities. All players, coaches and staff are adhering to strict health and safety guidelines laid out by Alberta Health, and are committed to contributing to a low-risk training environment. Practices are closed to external media and public viewing to ensure compliance with protocols.

Cavalry FC will continue to obey all government COVID-19 safety regulations, as well as the strict Return to Train Protocol set forth by the Canadian Premier League. The wellness of our community is of utmost importance, and all operations will proceed with health and safety as a priority.

The players and coaches are optimistic about the season ahead, and excited to be back in action.

“We are delighted to have been given the green light to safely return to train by our local governing bodies (AHS) and the Canadian Premier League.  It’s been around 200 days since we last had the opportunity to train together at the Island Games in PEI. We will use this positive news as a step toward where we all want to get back to, playing on the pitch at Spruce Meadows in front of our fans once again.” -Tommy Wheeldon Jr. (Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC).

“I am pleased with the thorough plan that has been created and submitted by our Health and Safety team. We have been most fortunate to live and play in a community that has experience in such matters, understands the importance of cooperation and is very respectful of the detail and attention that is required in taking the next steps in a safe return to play strategy” – Ian Allison (President & COO)
