Calgary, AB (March 1, 2022) – Cavalry FC has arrived in Monterrey, Mexico, for an intensive pre-season training camp at the IA Sports Facility.
Coaching staff and management are grateful to IA Sports for having patiently worked with the club to execute this trip in a safe and positive manner, once the world began to take positive steps in returning to a sense of normalcy. The trip was originally planned for the 2020 pre-season but was postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The private facility is fully equipped for the needs of a professional club. Players and staff have settled in after a full day of travel-ready to tackle full training sessions and friendly matches with local professional clubs over the next 10 days.
“This is a great opportunity to take our team away together and focus 100% on football. Pre-season is an important time to build fitness, improve our playing identity and develop team chemistry. Something that we won’t take lightly given the past 2 seasons haven’t allowed for this. It’s trips like these that lay a great foundation for what we want to achieve in the season ahead. We are thankful to the group here at IA Sports, who have been first class in hosting us at their private training facility here in Monterrey.”
– Tommy Wheeldon Jr. (Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC).
As with all domestic and international travel arranged by Cavalry FC, all players and staff took the necessary steps outlined by local and federal authorities to be allowed travel into Mexico, and to return safely to Canada for the start of the Canadian Premier League season in April.
