Cavalry FC will face some of the biggest names in world soccer, in the continent’s biggest club tournament.
The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup is right around the corner, and your 2024 CPL Champions are gearing up to take the world stage. With the tournament kicking off in February, here’s everything you need to know:
What is the Concacaf Champions Cup?
To put it simply, the Concacaf Champions Cup is the biggest tournament in the continent. For our soccer connoisseurs, think of the UEFA Champions League, but in North & Central America, and the Caribbean.
FUN FACT: Concacaf is an abbreviation and is short for the “Confederation of North & Central America and Caribbean Association Football” and represents the official governing body of soccer for all of the region.
The competition is made up of the top 27 clubs from across the continent, all of which qualify as being among the best in their respective leagues. Cavalry qualified after reaching the 2024 CPL Final and being crowned Champions.
Why should I be excited about it?
Cavalry is now in the same conversation as some of the biggest clubs in the world.
You’ve probably heard of Lionel Messi – you’ve certainly heard of the FIFA World Cup. What if we told you that a handful of World Cup winners will be competing in the competition? If you’re not excited yet, what if we mentioned that we could be playing in a 2026 FIFA World Cup stadium, giving you a taste of what to expect when our men’s national team takes the world stage in 2026.
There are many elements that make this tournament special. An international, single knock-out, home and away ‘tournament-of-champions’ makes the CONCACAF Champions Cup unlike any other sporting event on this continent.
We are Alberta’s club, and we are about to show the world who we are and put the city of Calgary and the province of Alberta on the map. We want you to be with us every step of the way.

The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup draw takes place on December 10 at 5:00pm MT live on Concacaf’s YouTube channel. You can follow the live draw from home or join the fun with the Foot Soldiers at the Elephant & Castle or Kildares.
